Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC)

Your input provided the Township with the information we needed to receive a Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) Grant from the Province. I’m sure a lot of you age 55+ have met Cait, the SALC Program Coordinator, and enjoy the new programming. If you haven't and you are 55+ sign up and read all about it on the Township website.

More Family Fun

If you have young ones, you likely noticed there are more sports activities and other fun things for kids in Griffith & Matawatchan. 80% of Cait's salary is covered by the SALC grant with the remaining 20% supplied by the Township. Help arrived this summer through our summer student, Robyn, who brought fresh ideas to entertain the kids and keep them active. Based on the success of the SALC program, we have applied to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for a Seed Grant for a Youth & Family Program Coordinator to serve more of the community throughout the year.

More Resources and Activities in Griffith & Matawatchan through the Greater Madawaska Public Library and Learning Centre 

If you liked Watersheds Canada's Shore-lands and Dark Skies presentations, you will be happy to know that the library will soon be able to extend more programming like that in Ward 3. Now that we have greater resources, we can do more activities for people of all ages to Griffith & Matawatchan that were previously offered only at the library in Calabogie. Activities such as these and more.

Make sure you are on the voters list 

SECOND RESIDENCES ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY ON THE VOTERS LIST

They can be added at the Township Office in Calabogie, or contacting the Clerk by email, phone, or at the polling station in Griffith between 10 am and noon on October 26 with proper ID and proof of residency. Look for your Voter Information Letter in the mail between October 6 and 13.
